This has to be one of my favorite ways to brew coffee. It’s a very unique process, and it’s one of the oldest and most affordable ways to brew your own coffee! Even though it’s not as popular here in the US, it is very popular overseas (my grandma made her morning coffee using one of these every day in post-independence India). I typically go for a 1-10 ratio of coffee to water (if I fill the basket with grounds, I’d fill the bottom chamber to the valve with hot water), with a fairly fine grind (but not as fine as espresso). The key with a moka pot is to heat the water gently and slowly and to cut the heat as soon as the coffee begins brewing as to not burn the coffee. A moka pot is a must-have for coffee lovers and a great replacement for a pricey espresso machine.
